Cathérine Delbruyère (° 1970)
Professor ceramics Académie des Beaux-Arts de Watermael Boitsfort (until 2021) and in the “Académie des Beaux-Arts de Namur since 2009.
Since her start, Catherine has always carried out a parallel work of utilitarian ceramics and sculptural ceramics.
These two paths that she walks through the clay, resonate in concordance and aim to compare the fundamental relationships between man and his history and between man and his environment (in the broad sense). Her work reflects the environment, the elements, time as an inevitable questioning of the fragility and transience of humanity. It is as if the universe was contained in a bowl like the reflection of the entire sky on the surface of the dark water of a lake in the hollow of a valley. In her ceramics the spirit of the earth and the soul of men flow together on the filigree line of a crete, walking on a mountain with the dimensions of a hand.
Poetry highlights thoughts that are too big for us.
